Changing your life.

Are you thinking of starting Crossfit, but don’t think you are ready?

A lot of people think that they have to get into shape to do crossfit.  I mean haven’t you seen the crossfit games on espn or online.  Those guys and gals are awesome and do amazing things.  But that is not your typical crossfiter.  Your typical crossfit; works 40 hours a week, takes care of kids at home, goes to school, etc. and still comes in to workout.  Everyone has to start at the beginning even if that beginning seems so far away from were others started.  People get scared off by watching the crossfit games on tv and start thinking I can’t do that, but if I could I would be in good shape.  It is just like sports, I like playing football with friends but I know I am not NFL material.  Same thing with crossfit I love doing crossfit and what it has done for my life, but I am not a crossfit games athlete.  Anybody can do crossfit.  A lot of people turn to CrossFit with a goal of losing weight.  We can help with that.  One of Crossfit Utah Valley trainers has lost over one hundred pounds.  You will have to do the work but we will support you and help you get moving. Just come on in.

For most people it is a money thing.  ”That is too much money for a gym.”  If it was just a gym then yes it would be. But Crossfit Utah Valley is more than just a gym.  We have helped people get their life back.  From playing with grandkids, losing weight, getting kids more active, getting people in the best shape of their life, etc. Let me ask you a few questions.  How much would you pay to lower your; body fat percentage, blood pressure, cholesterol, visits to the doctor per year. How much would you pay to increase your; muscle, years of life, energy levels, ability to move in life.  Money is the root of all evil, but if you use it to get healthier is it still evil?  If you spend less on fast food or  candy or buy one less outfit a month.  You can afford to change your life with CrossfitUV.

“I won’t know anyone there.”  At crossfitUV we are a family and we want you to come in and share your life with us.  You will find that every class does about the same thing.  Which mean you will workout together, cheer each other on, and be able to push or help someone else.  As a gym we like to do outside the gym activities.  The last one we did was bowling.  You will not be alone in our gym.  We will not let you get lost in the crowd.  Our trainers will be there every class with you and helping you achieve your goals and to keep you safe.

My story

I have been doing crossfit since the middle of 2006.  I started not being able to pick up much weight, even though I was a firefighter.  My cardio or lung capacity was normal for a skinny athletic looking kid.  Let’s see if I can paint you a picture.  I weighed 150 lbs (on a good day) about 10-12% body fat (never measured) at 5′ 11″.  I looked healthy but felt weak.  I could only deadlift and squat a little over my body weight, which in my line of work I think is bad.  If a firefighter that is bigger than that goes down in a fire how do I save him.  In less than a year of hard work and crossfit I was a lot stronger but stayed the same weight.  Over the six years my strength grew and my ability to move better has gotten much better.  I can deadlift double my body weight 15 times in a row.  I am now 160 lbs and 5% or less body fat. I feel like a better firefighter and person the more I do crossfit.

 

Anyone can do it. You just need to start.
